Nairobi
Huruma Children’s Orphanage.
Details: Approx. 130 orphans, at least 25 of the children with the HIV virus.
KSP work: 54 desks sponsored.
Supplied clothes, trainers, football kits, footballs, skipping ropes, books , etc.
Newlife Home Centre.
Details: Baby orphanage consisting of 54 cots. The orphanage also looks after numerous babies with the HIV virus.
KSP work: Supplied knitted items such as jumpers, blankets and teddy bears, all kindly knitted and donated by ladies back in the UK.
Also supplied new baby clothes, Vaseline, talcum powder and plasters.
Mukuru Promotion Centre.
Details: This is a school with around 2,000 pupils who mainly live in the Nairobi slums. The centre is run by two nuns.
KSP work: We have supplied school uniforms kindly donated by Whittington C of E School, library books donated by the Derwen College in Gobowen, football kits, footballs and skipping ropes.
Ushirika School.
Details: This is a school with approx. 700 pupils.
KSP work: KSP has just funded a windows project in three classrooms costing over £2,000 with local tradesman completing the work. £940 has just been sent out to fund a refurbishment of a toilet and kitchen block. We have also supplied books, football kits, footballs and skipping ropes.
Mombasa.
Mkwakwani School.
Details: 1,750 pupils.
KSP work: We have sponsored 180 desks and supplied educational textbooks, bought from local book shop in the village. We have also supplied exercise books, pens, pencils and other scholastic equipment.
Heman school.
Details: Approx. 80 pupils.
KSP work: 30 desks sponsored and football kits, footballs, skipping ropes, books, exercise books, pens and pencils donated.
Yeje school.
Details: Approx. 200 pupils.
KSP work: We have provided electricity to the school building.
Also, we have sponsored 180 desks and supplied football kits, footballs, skipping ropes, exercise books, pens and pencils.
Shamu school.
Details: Approx. 600 pupils.
KSP work: 250 desks sponsored. We have also supplied a hockey kit, football kit, footballs, skipping ropes, exercise books, pens and pencils.
Diani Secondary school.
Details: Approx. 500 pupils.
KSP work: 30 desks sponsored and supplied football kit, footballs, skipping ropes, exercise books, pens and pencils.
Mvindeni school.
Details: Approx. 400 pupils.
KSP work: KSP will be funding a refurbishment of a kindergarten classroom in May 09.
We have also supplied a football kit, footballs, skipping ropes, exercise books, pens and pencils.
Watoto Wa Kenya Orphanage.
Details: 17 orphans in mud huts in the middle of nowhere. Looked after by an American nurse called Paula.
KSP work: Supplied library books, footballs, skipping ropes, pens and pencils.
Mandaleo Academy.
Details: Girls High school.
KSP work: Supplied library books.
Southern stars school.
Details: Approx. 400 pupils.
KSP work: Supplied exercise books, pens and pencils.
